Drizzt’s favorite weapon is the scimitar, and he carries two nicknamed Twinkle and Icingdeath. He also carries a magical figurine, Guenhwyvar. Drizzt wore a pair of “Bracers of the Blinding Strike,” which increase the agility of the bearer. He knows that a blindingly fast strike is difficult to adjust if the enemy is able to anticipate and react to it. After his enchanted suit was damaged, Drizzt started wearing a spider silk shirt that could magically protect its wearer from the most lethal attacks. The adamantine in his shirt is special as it does not turn to dust in sunlight, unlike most drow armor.
Drizzt always favored the use of scimitars, but was also schooled to mastery in every weapon conceivable to the drow. This did not change after he went to the surface world. Drizzt was not above improvising in combat by making use of any weapons available to him, but most of the time he used no weapon other than his two enchanted scimitars.
On rare occasions, Drizzt regressed into an instinctive state of mind that he identified as the “Hunter”. This happened for the first time after Drizzt fled from Menzoberranzan and was living in the wilds of the Underdark. He was more attracted towards his animalistic personality in those ten years ,but started countering it when he came close to harming svirfneblin children.
During the battle when his friends seemed to be in danger or when he was alone in the wilderness, Drizzt would occasionally lose control over himself, such as when he went back to his homeland to prevent harm from coming to his friends.
When Drizzt was the Hunter, he reached his physical apex, his skills honed to their utmost peak. His scimitars were like extensions of his own arms and his senses were heightened beyond their normal capacity.
The Drizzt swords
Twinkle and Icingdeath were both supposedly based on scimitars and indeed the differences between them are only in the cosmetic appearance of the fittings; the blades and overall design are identical.
Icingdeath was the nickname for Drizzt Do’Urden’s main right-hand scimitar. Drizzt found it in the treasure pile of a white dragon. Icingdeath is first mentioned in The Crystal Shard.
Twinkle was Drizzt Do’Urden’s left-handed defensive scimitar forged by the elves of old. The Dark Elf Sword Twinkle and icingdeath was one half of a pair of functional high quality steel twin blades from the Forgotten Realms books.
IcingDeath: The hilt of this scimitar was black adamantite and the blade was made of silver with a diamond edge. Its handle was shaped like the head of a hunting cat. The panther-esque shape of the hilt is what attracted Drizzt to the sword, as it reminds him of his hunting companion, Guenhwyvar. The weapon absorbs fire and heat, protecting its wielder against fire. This magical blade saved Drizzt’s life every time he faced the demon Errtu. Icingdeath was designed to combat demons, as Drizzt has noticed a type of hunger emanating from the sword whenever a demon is near, which alerted him to the presence of a demon in Siege of Darkness. Icingdeath was a +3 scimitar. It had the powers of a frost weapon. It could also be set on fire in order to harm trolls, though this was only when the magic of the blade was being repressed.
Twinkle is Icingdeath’s companion scimitar. Drizzt received Twinkle from the mage Malchor Harpell when he was chasing Artemis Entreri after the assassin captured Regis in the novel Streams of Silver. Like all magical weapons, this +2 defending scimitar had an enchantment that made the blade sharper and the weapon more likely to strike true. This enchantment could be diverted in order to make the wielder better at parrying an opponent’s blow. Twinkle had a star-cut azure sapphire on its pommel and when it detected danger nearby it softly glowed blue. It was partially empathic and could impart weak, base emotions upon its wielder.
